How to Read a Ferroalloy MTR

A field-by-field guide to Manufacturer Test Reports for ferroalloy purchases.

By 1 min read

An MTR records the tested chemistry of a production batch. Buyers should verify the grade, batch number, test date, element limits, actual results and testing authority.

Common checks

Make sure the reported values use the same units and comparison basis as the purchase specification. Pay special attention to restricted impurities rather than only the main element.
